Book Review- Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris

Here is the synopsis from the publishers:

“When a vampire asks cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse to use her telepathic skills to find another missing vampire, she agrees under one condition: the vampires must promise to behave and let the humans that are involved to go unharmed. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blond and one small mistake for things to turn deadly.”

After the honeymoon of Dead until Dark, this seems like a very logical continuation.  Now that the Vampire’s know what Sookie can do, it is inevitable that they find a use for her 😀  So we travel to Dallas to meet more interesting new friends, one of whom is Barry (a young telepath).  The Dallas Vampires exemplify what you suspect from the previous book- that vamps are just as different from one another as humans and more dangerous.  Comparatively, Bill and Eric are cuddly puppies!

Charlaine Harris is very good at character development and she really makes you feel as though you are a part of the action by making the scene so accessible to the reader.  Once I got through this novel, I really felt involved in the plot and desperately wanted to find out what happens next!
