Here is the publishers synopsis-
“Sookie’s boyfriend has been very distant. Now she’s off to Mississippi to mingle with the underworld at Club Dead–a little haunt where the vampire elite go to chill out. But when she finally finds Bill–caught in an act of betrayal–she’s not sure whether to save him or sharpen some stakes. Original.”
Book three! This was a fantastic turning point in the story that, at least in my opinion, many supernatural writer don’t take. The world of Sookie Stackhouse has been expanding like the big bang- first with Vampires, then to Dallas- and now we get to meet the larger “Supe” community in Mississippi 😀
When Bill goes missing (AKA ran back to his Ex-Wife) without so much as an explanation to Sookie, you would expect most of what happened. The hunt for Bill, a plan, his rescue, etc…… BUT my favorite parts of this book were the introduction of Alcide and the fact that Sookie did what every self respecting woman would have done in her place- she broke up with Bill!
She wasn’t cold- it hurt like hell- but she did not overlook such foul treatment by her boyfriend. I love the fact that Charlaine Harris keeps the scenes so very realistic in such a supernatural setting and that, at least for me, is why I keep coming back!
