More Beauty, More Decay, More Abandon

Happy Saturday Everyone!  I have definitely spent more than a few hours thinking about the negative and incomprehensible over the past few days.  Instead of dwelling upon memories of 1998 or even 2007 I decided to google you fine gaggle of readers some more fabulous images of abandoned building and deserted towns.

I do not know why the Japanese seem to have so many of these abandoned places just popping out of the mountains, but they do.  Every time one of these images crosses my screen my mind races 1000 miles per minute with all of the Anime plot lines involving time traveling heroines and horror stories of evil spirits chasing the faithful out-of-town.  Inevitably, I will giggle because Bruce Campbell is saying in my head, “Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I’ve got news for you pal, you ain’t leadin’ but two things, right now: Jack and shit… and Jack left town.”

A needed thanks goes out to Michael John Grist (whoever you are) for posting this shot of the chemical pools on his web-site.  Where do you find these places?

This has been one of those weeks when I have felt the deep seeded desire to divest myself of everything and get on the first plane to anywhere that begins with the letter I pull out of the scrabble tile bag.  I frequently day-dream about running away, always have, ever since I was little, but it’s laughable now that I’m living a life of my own creation and there’s no one to blame for the crap except myself.  I do, however, think that this time it’s mostly a desire to escape.

I want to find Eden, or Valhalla, or Olympus, or any place where the evils and trivialities of the world can be easily forgotten.  Maybe I should jump a plane to San Diego and convince my brother to ride me down to Rosarito on his motorcycle.
